Yellow Rock Trail at Devil’s Den State Park (southern Washington County, Arkansas) is one of my favorite trails. The North Rim Trail at Mount Magazine is one of the 3 trails with the park’s best views. (The other two are Bear Hollow Trail and Benefield East Loop Trail.) The trail runs along the north rim from the visitor center on the east end over to the campground at Cameron Bluff on the west end. […]

This is a complex of loops and spurs designed for hikers, cyclists, and equestrians. Since it is designed for these multiples uses, it does not feature many steep parts. The Rough Canyon Trail is one […]

If you’ve spent much time in the Buffalo River area, you’ve seen pictures of Hawksbill Crag (aka Whitaker Point). It is one of the most photographed spots in the area, and with good reason. The hike to Hawksbill Crag is a short one, and it is relatively easy. Getting to the trailhead is a bit […]
Mount Nebo State Park (Yell County, near Dardanelle and Russellville) is a beautiful place. This loop covers two of the trails on the mountain. It’s a short hike, but it’s vigorous and pretty cool. There are 2 main levels on Mount Nebo, the bench level and the rim level at the top. Nebo Steps and […]
