The North Rim Trail at Mount Magazine State Park (Logan County, near Paris) is a wonderfully scenic hike with some great vista views.

As an out-and-back hike, it is 5 miles (2.5 miles each way), but it’s not difficult. About the only significant elevation change is in a stretch in the western part.

My full review of the trail is in this post.

These are additional photos from my June 5 and 11, 2016 hikes on the trail.

The North Rim Trail at Mount Magazine is one of the 3 trails with the park’s best views. (The other two are Bear Hollow Trail and Benefield East Loop Trail.)

The trail runs along the north rim from the visitor center on the east end over to the campground at Cameron Bluff on the west end.

It’s 5 miles as an out-and-back hike (2.5 miles each way). It has some great views and is not too difficult.

The Signal Hill highpoint sign.

This is the trail that gets you to the highest point in Arkansas. And it’s not very difficult.

The highest point in Arkansas, 2,753 feet above sea level, is at the top of Signal Hill on Mount Magazine. It’s in Mount Magazine State Park in the Ozark National Forest’s Magazine District, Logan County.

The Signal Hill Trail takes you to the highpoint and makes an enjoyable 1.4-mile loop around the north and east parts of Signal Hill.

Mount Magazine State Park (Logan County, near Paris) sits on top of the highest mountain in Arkansas. It’s a great park, and Bear Hollow is one of its best trails.

The Bear Hollow Trail is a 2.7-mile west-pointing v-shaped trail that follows the rim at the east end of the mountain. The trail’s south end is at the Benefield Picnic Area.

The north end is near the park’s horse camp. The north side runs about 1.5 miles, and the south side about 1.2.

There is some climbing on the trail, but not a lot. The net elevation change is only about 200 feet. There is not a lot of up-and-downhill climbing. Continue reading Mount Magazine: Bear Hollow Trail – 5 mi (o&b)
